ABOUT NOTES

Imagine sitting in bed, roaming through sites while winding down for the night. You find a few stories that make you smile, make you laugh, and make you think; they’re all good stories but you think there could be something more. After a few days a thought comes to you and you act on it. This, Notes, came from that. I wanted a space to be able to share conversations about making meaning of the world around me. I wanted a space to tell stories my way.

Simply, let’s I just talk. That’s not too surprising for an extroverted Gemini.

ABOUT THE CREATOR

I’m the person that likes to connect with others. As far back as I can remember, I think I’ve always appreciated being with people and being in community. If I really think about it I think it stems from my very large, paternal family. I was taught at a young age, both directly and indirectly, to love and do so like you mean it.

As I’ve grown older that inclination to love on folks has grown stronger and I think it has to do with who I am and what I do. I’m a Black, queer man; an overachieving and social media obsessed millennial; vegetarian who prefers French fries and BBQ sauce over anything else; and I became something like an educator over the years. I would argue that this has made me more aware of those around me and of what I can do to support them.

All I have ever wanted to do is make folks laugh and do something that matters. The idea of Notes was inspired by this. I wanted a space to talk about those things I don’t see reflected in mainstream publications, of the counter narrative; I want to tell the stories that we want to tell.

I could write paragraph after paragraph about who I am but I hope that who I am is communicated through my writing. What I will say is that I am here and I am excited to share.
